East Windsor Resident to Appear on GOLF CHANNEL’s New Reality Series
Will Alan Martin’s ‘Thumbs Down Method’ be America’s top Golf Invention?
Series Video Preview: Fore Inventors Only Preview Video
ORLANDO, Fla., (June 27, 2007) – East Windsor resident Alan Martin just may have discovered the next big idea in golf, and will put his inventions to the test on Fore Inventors Only, a new GOLF CHANNEL original series premiering Tuesday, July 10 at 10 p.m. ET. Martin’s invention, Thumbs Down Method, is a training method for better ball striking. The method squares the club at impact by promoting the use of the hands and wrists for power, accuracy and control. An author and entrepreneur, Martin has invested $15,000 thus far on his invention.
PGA TOUR professional Fulton Allem, renowned golf instructor Bill Harmon and Golf for Women Senior Editor Stina Sternberg will be tasked with critiquing and paring down the 103 inventors to five finalists, while uncovering inventions from brilliant to ludicrous along the way.
Hosted by Vince Cellini, Fore Inventors Only scoured the country interviewing and auditioning more than 1,000 inventors to find the cast who will compete in the series. Following the first stage of competition, the judges will oversee field testing and consumer product pitches before narrowing the candidates to five finalists. Ultimately, viewers will cast their votes to determine the winner on the series’ live season finale on Sept. 4. The winner will receive shelf space at golf retailer, Golfsmith, for one year; a fully-developed infomercial and $50,000 worth of commercial and promotional air time on the GOLF CHANNEL.

Thumbs Down ... for Thumbs Up Results
Get ready for some
out-of-the-box thinking in terms of improving your golf game. You probably never
thought of Thumbs Down as being a positive thing, but now it is. In fact, this
negative expression is possibly the best thing that ever happened to your ball
striking.
Trust me, it’s not just another gimmick! Making a Thumbs Down motion while
striking the golf ball squares the club and provides a power booster to your
existing swing, without trying to kill the ball. It releases the club and
magically puts you in the correct finishing position. Good putters use their
thumbs for feel, also to visualize the line. Now, you can use your thumbs to
improve your ball striking too.
"In its simplest form, this technique calls for the golfer to turn down
their strong hand thumb as they strike the ball." - Bill Kennedy,
Trenton Times,

Let’s face it, we’re all busy and lessons take a commitment in time and money.
For some, it’s the perfect way to learn the golf swing, gain valuable tips and
discover ways to improve your game from an experienced professional. But if the
amount of time and money to play the game is already a stretch (which is not
uncommon with today’s fast-paced lifestyles), then a self - teaching handbook
may be the answer you’ve been looking for. I know it was for me.
My name is Alan Martin (currently a 7 handicap). The power fade which served me
well for 25 years had turned into an out-of-control slice in the early 1990s. In
1995, while experimenting with ways to get the club square at impact, I
developed a method which was simple and easy to repeat. Equally important, it
didn’t require changing my swing, just some adjustments to my hand position at
impact and to my thinking.
The results were dramatic! It immediately turned the slice into a draw, plus
added well over 20 yards to every club in my bag (putter excluded!). My game now
includes a level of accuracy and control I never knew before, especially the
iron shots to the green. For me, golf is more fun now that I’m hitting more
greens in regulation each round. This also gives me more opportunities for
3-putt bogeys, but I’ll gladly accept that challenge.
The method, called Thumbs Down, is based on the same swing fundamentals taught
by the best instructors, in a language the average golfer understands and can
relate to.
“It’s almost golf for dummies. There are no confusing words or swing
thoughts.” Dan McCarthy, Head Professional, Springdale Golf Club Princeton, N.J.
“These are the same fundamentals I teach to my students, made simple.
There’s nothing not to like.” Dan Pasternak, Head Professional, Panther Valley
Golf and CC, Allamuchy, N.J.
